Sun WIP
Here's a new small print I'm working on right now - I intend to incorporate it into a larger piece, but I'm trying to get it to stand on it's own as well...

I have an uncharacteristic week off right now, and I'm not liking it much. I hate to admit it, but I find it difficult to work without other artists around me. I managed to get in a couple of hours of work today in my studio (my garage, actually, but it counts!), and that was like pulling teeth. I don't want to squander the week, so I'm making a concerted effort to get at least a couple of these small woodcuts done, as well as getting another etching ready to drop in the acid. I've also been spending what feels like a ridiculous amount of time finding galleries and art fairs to submit work to, and perhaps it's put me in a non-creative state of mind.
Instead, I've been reading quite a bit lately. The to-read stack had grown overwhelming, and I figured it was time to start picking the low-hanging fruit. I finished both Tanner on Ice, by Lawrence Block (the 8th and final Evan Tanner novel) and A Lion's Tale: Around the World in Spandex by Chris Jericho. The Tanner book was better than the previous couple, and while not necessarily intended as the last Tanner story, it was still a reasonable wrap-up. Jericho's book was great, on a par with Mick Foley's first book (as far as wrestling autobios go). Comics-wise, I read the 9th and 10th 100 Bullets TPBs (as good as ever, and I'm really looking forward to being able to re-read the entire run start to finish), the 5th and final The Exterminators TPB, Bug Brothers Forever (sad to see it go, but it stayed strong for all 5 books), and the 5th DMZ book, The Hidden War (I love DMZ so much!). Yep, that's a lot of Vertigo stuff, and since I just started reading the 6th DMZ book, that's not changing soon.
