Bernie
Another new print: "Bernie," 4" x 4", woodcut, 2009. Edition of 13, printed on Mulberry.

I started this one so that I could incorporate the sun into another print (using chine colle), but tried to make it work as it's own thing. Hopefully it does. It's always weird to see scans of smaller scale prints, often it's way bigger on screen than the actual print, and usually you'd want to reduce artwork down a little bit (it "tightens" up the work, hides some of the flaws and irregularities). I think the physical print looks a lot better than the scan.
This has been a good month for comics shows; ECCC two weeks ago, and the Stumptown Comics Fest this weekend. I didn't end up with a ton of stuff at either, but it was kind of nice to start thinking about comics again. I've had my head so deeply in printmaking that comics have almost completely fallen by the wayside in my work. I'm not sure that there's going to be a big change in that situation any time soon, but I've got a couple of things that I'd like to try out. Coming soon!
