I Got Next
"I Got Next," 9" x 12", woodcut, 2009. Edition of 10, printed on Mulberry paper.

One of my great passions is basketball. It's not that I was ever all that great at it, but I spent an incalcuable amount of time playing when I was a kid. I haven't been able to play much for the last couple of years (age and injuries are a bitch), and I really miss it. Right now it's not so bad - the NBA season isn't going, so it's not on my mind all the time. But once fall hits and the season starts to gear up, I'm going to be jonesing badly to get in a pick-up game somewhere. Or at least to hoist up jumpers by myself in an empty gym for an hour or so. It felt really good to make a basketball print - maybe it's something that people can relate to better than my usual work. This guy's been done for about a month, but with trying to get ready for Silverton, I couldn't find the time to actually print it. I finally got a few done yesterday, and this is the result...
