Sadness I & II
"Sadness I & II," hand-colored etching and dry point, 11" x 7", 2009.

Thisis another one of the prints I've been slowly chipping away at coloring. These are actually the very first and the fourth prints that I ever made. The idea is to make a sort of over-the-top parody of the mopey sort of pieces that were/are permeating the Juxtapoz scene. Not that there isn't really good work coming out of that situation, but the fact that everyone was all over Mark Ryden's jockey shorts (and relentlessly ripping him off) sort of irritated me. Not much more to say about that, other than that this is another piece that I'll have with me at the West Linn Arts Festival next weekend. Hope to see you there...
