Little Bird, Little Nest
"Little Bird, Little Nest," 6" x 9", intaglio (etching/soft ground), 2010. Edition of 14, printed on Fabriano Murillo paper.

This is another assignment - we were all given a random proverb (I don't even know where mine is from), and had to make a print based on it (although not illustrating it). I'm not sure that I could explain how the image relates to the proverb, but it works in my mind, and that's good enough. There is a connection, but it would really take some explaining...
I've had a sort of truncated week in the studio, and I've been trying to fight off the blahs and get some work done. I don't know if I've been entirely successful in fighting off the blahs, but I did manage to get the aquatinting done on my "biggest plate evar." It's a 18" x 24" etching, which if you know anything about etchings, is pretty freaking big. I've been chipping away at it for quite a while now (probably six months?), but I've set my targets firmly upon it, and it will get done very, very soon.
Other than that, Paul Pope gave a very good talk at last week's Stumptown Comics Festival, and I'm glad I got to check that out. I'm bummed out about the Blazers' season ending, but at least it's unlikely I'll ever have to endure another season as a fan with as many injuries and set-backs. And I've got the fourth Thunk mixcast recorded - it'll go up tomorrow.
One last thing, a couple of my tight compadres (Gene Flores and Deborah Spanton) have a joint show right now over at Portland's Onda Gallery that went up yesterday. It's too late for the festivities, but there's another full month to check out their circus-themed prints and paintings. And you really should, because they're pretty awesome.
