Why I Draw Mostly People and Not Mostly Things
Here are a pair of sketches from my first trip to Amsterdam back in 2003...




Sadly, this is the best of the bunch. When I travel, I tend not to draw very much. I know, many people would kill for the chance to tramp around Europe and spend the entire time with their head buried in a sketchbook. For whatever reason, I'm not one of those people. I'm always more drawn to people rather than architecture/design, and often I'll try to take a mental snapshot of someone and draw them later at my convenience. But drawing buildings or furniture or whatever isn't all that attractive to me. Ah well, every artist has their focus...
