As Long As I Forget To Die, I'm Fortunate
"As Long As I Forget To Die, I'm Fortunate," 18" x 24", mixed media print, 2010. Edition variable, print #2 of an edition of 2.

Well, this one is finally done. This print (and it's not-quite identical twin brother) was the print I had started longest ago and hadn't finished (until this week). I started working on it back in late 2008 (and it was my first stab at a woodcut print, enormous as it is), but had a lot of difficulty in getting a decent print from it. As it turns out, large spaces of what are supposed to be white areas don't stay white once you ink up the block. Earlier this year, I finally got ambitious, inked up the block, masked out the white areas, and managed to get a couple of decent prints (finally!). I further customized each of the two prints with rubber stamps and acrylic paint, and this is one of the results.
I've got the twin brother framed and ready to roll, and I'll have it with me at the Silverton Fine Arts Festival this weekend in Silverton, OR. Drop by to check it out (or any of the other prints I'll have with me) if you're free this weekend!
