West Linn Arts Festival 2010 - Sept. 11-12
First things first, I've got my last art fair of the year coming up next weekend (not this weekend, next!), so if you don't blow all of your art dollars at Art in the Pearl this weekend, feel free to drop by the West Linn Arts Festival and spread some green love around. Or, just check out some art and chat with the people who make it!

West Linn Arts Festival - September 11-12, 2010, West Linn, OR
I'll be at booth #65, which may or may not be useful to know. The event is on a baseball field, and my booth is in short left-field, which might be slightly more useful in finding me.

Here's another recent sketch...

Not much to say about this one...
I was intending to print a new woodcut this afternoon, but I can't find the second block (it's a two-block piece). Pretty frustrating. I guess I'll try to find it this weekend, as I'd really like to get it done (and have something new to show between shows). Sigh...
A lot of the albums I've been buying lately are ones that might fall under the category of "stuff you ought to listen to." It's been a pretty unbearably boring summer for contemporary music for the most part, so I've been looking to yesteryear for things to listen to. The problem with that is that when you're listening to albums that have reputations, anything less than full attention on your first listen seems like a waste of a first impression. So, I've picked up a couple of Flaming Lips albums (but haven't gotten around to giving them that devoted first listen yet), and I picked up the Velvet Underground's "White Light/White Heat" last night. As silly as it sounds, I can still vividly remember when I finally listened through "The Velvet Underground & Nico " for the first time (I was stuck in the middle of rush hour a couple of years ago, trying to get home, and figured that was as good of a chance as I was likely to get).
So I'm in the middle of giving WL/WH that first listen right now. Pretty good stuff (I'd heard "Here She Comes Now" first as a Nirvana cover - so it's a little strange to hear a different version), but I wouldn't put it on par with the first album.

This is sort of a housekeeping thing, but I'm getting pretty annoyed with the level of spam in the comments. Here's the basic rule - if you don't have a name (I'm willing to accept screen names, but people names are better), your comment gets deleted. If I get even a whiff of a product or business name, and I don't care how vaguely you praise me or my site, your comment is toast. This site exists solely for me to present and discuss my work, not to help people sell sunroofs or fat burners or whatever the hell you've got to peddle. Buy your own site and leave me alone, pretty please.
